H. P. Lovecraft’s Deep Ones to be captured by Horror Photographer Joshua Hoffine

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CHICAGO, IL, April 20, 2015 — Joshua Hoffine, the Horror Photographer teams with Face Off champion J.

Anthony Kosar and actor Doug Jones to capture a scene from one of author H. P. Lovecraft’s most

beloved stories, The Shadow over Innsmouth.

The title of Hoffine’s new photograph is Innsmouth. Hoffine has chosen the Lovecraft convention

Necronomicon to reveal Innsmouth. Necronomicon takes place August 21 – 23 in Providence, RI.

In Lovecraft’s story The Shadow over Innsmouth, a young man visits a decrepit seaside town only to be

unexpectedly trapped there overnight. A mob of mutant fish-frog people called Deep Ones try to

capture him, and it is this moment of horror that Hoffine envisions as his Innsmouth photograph, a

moment of abject fear when the story’s protagonist is fleeing the mob of monstrosities.

Playing the role of the man trapped in Innsmouth is the always-vivacious and extremely animated Doug

Jones, an actor known for his expressive character acting in the major motion pictures Pan’s Labyrinth,

Hell Boy and Hell Boy II, The Fantastic Four, and many others.

Hoffine has recruited Face Off Season 4 champion J. Anthony Kosar to create the many masks of the

Deep Ones. Kosar has thus far sculpted several different full-head masks and several face masks for the

project.

Due to the high cost of costuming, mask-making, and set building, Hoffine is currently hosting an

Innsmouth Kickstarter campaign to fund this venture. A quick glance at the rewards for backers reveals

many Lovecraft-centric collectibles as well as several rewards that boast the striking artwork of

prominent Lovecraft artist Daniel Govar.
